Our Mission

James Langley, Ground Zero

The Foundation for Sacred Arts is a Catholic nonprofit organization which has been founded to encourage and inspire the production and promotion of sacred arts for the glory of God and the transformation of society. Throughout Christian history, the arts have played an important role in catechesis, in a community's prayer life, in inspiring individuals to believe and live out their faith more deeply, and ultimately in shaping the values of society. Unfortunately, the secularization of the art world in the last century has discouraged expression of the Christian faith in contemporary artistic works and has devalued beauty as a central goal of art. At the Foundation for Sacred Arts, we recognize the need to revitalize Christian art and reestablish it as a dynamic and viable expression within the art world. Our projects include:

  • a series of traveling exhibits which present and promote the work of exceptional contemporary Christian artists;
  • a network of chapters of Christian artists in cities throughout the country to enable these artists to meet and share ideas;
  • and a database of information on Christian artists active in the country today.

Mission Statement
The Foundation for Sacred Arts seeks to stimulate a movement in the fine arts by inspiring those with artistic talent to create works of truth, beauty, and goodness. Through the promotion of these works of art, we hope to renew the cultural fabric of the modern world and to bring people to encounter the risen Christ.
